De Ying Foundation is a charitable organization dedicated to supporting contemporary art in China and internationally. The foundation emphasizes the essential role of contemporary art in today’s China and is committed to broadening access to high-quality arts programming. It adopts a patient, long-term, and collaborative approach, partnering with like-minded organizations while also launching its own initiatives. De Ying Foundation places significant importance on arts education, valuing its intrinsic worth and its potential for transformative impact. While the foundation’s primary focus is on Greater China, it actively engages with international partners whose work resonates with its mission, fostering a genuine artistic dialogue between China and the rest of the world.

De Ying Foundation has provided long-term sponsorship for the De Ying Associate Curator of Visual Arts at M+. It is the Founding Patron of the Shanghai Centre of Photography and a key sponsor of the Hangzhou Triennial of Fiber Art at the China Academy of Art.

The foundation has supported notable projects, including artist Cao Fei’s first major solo exhibition in China, “Staging the Era” (2021), presented at UCCA in Beijing. In 2023, De Ying sponsored the UCCA presentation of “Who is He?,” a historical retrospective of Geng Jianyi, one of China’s pioneering conceptual artists. Additionally, De Ying is the primary supporter of Glen Ligon’s first UK solo exhibition, “All Over the Place” (2024), at the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge. In 2018, the foundation was an early supporter of Steve McQueen’s “Year 3 Project” at Tate Britain.

In 2019, De Ying Foundation also supported the production of the catalogue accompanying Cecily Brown’s acclaimed survey exhibition, “Where, When, How Often and With Whom,” at the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Denmark.
